About My Work

Most of my work is sculpture in the form of assemblages and bronzes.

All my pieces underlie a belief that the arts should provide nourishment for the soul and be uplifting. Beauty is the most essential element. My sculpture is created in a spontaneous and intuitive way (supported by a solid technical base). It is mostly figuratively based tending towards abstraction. Harmony and equilibrium are important qualities.

About six years ago, with my kiln temporarily out of action, I started to play with the many found objects that had accumulated in my studio. To my amazement, as I juxtaposed them, they transformed themselves into interesting figurative shapes. Ever since then I have collected distressed and seemingly worthless objects to transform them into, what I hope are, beautiful pieces of art.

Some of my work acts as a vehicle for the playful and whimsical side of my nature whereas other pieces(especially the bronzes) are inspired by classical myths and symbols found in ancient cultures.
